Focusing the Mind for Weight Management

A program will be devised that will help you manage your weight. The program will put control back in your hands and will help you enhance the choices you make about food and exercise.The program will assist you with psychological and motivational aspects of weight reduction. Its purpose is to alleviate compulsive eating and ehance the motivation to exercise and reduce weight. The program focuses solely on these aspects of weight reduction, and on alleviating your current behaviors that are the source of overeating and obesity. It is a soulution-oriented, brief method that focuses on the "here and the now" of current behaviors relating to food,eating habits and coping skills and physical exercise. It will also allow you to work at your own individual pace.

A number of hypnosis session will be put onto CD so that you can reinforce the work we do together. This will include: Sensible food choices, Creating a healthy relationship with food and motivation to exercise.  



The program which is constructed will look towards breaking unhealthy associations which you may have towards food and any negative ideas about managing your weight.

By altering your focus you will be able to look at what you want as appose to what you do not want.

Major aspects that we will look at are your, DESIRE to lose the weight.

SELF ACCEPTANCE WITH HOW YOU ARE IN THE MOMENT: This is a difficult one to grasp as it is not going to make sense at first. Hopefully your get the idea after a brief explanation.
If I ask you not to think of a blue elephant anything but a blue elephant, no blue elephants please,notice what comes to mind, the picture that most people produce is a blue elephant. This is because our unconscious mind cannot process negatives, not's and no's. Therefore if we have a constant strong idea in our minds of not wanting to be so overweight we will create that which is held in mind. What we focus on unconsciously will tend to manifest. In this instant there is a unconscious focus which is the not wanting. Which in turn will produce your blue elephant an unconscious image of you being over weight. The nature of the unconscious mind is that it doesn't critically analyse input it just reacts to what image it holds. The self acceptance of your self in the now will produce a neutral place within your mind where there will be no conflict or resistance to managing your weight.

MOTIVATION: This is where I come in rather strongly. This is to get the momentum going and keep you on track.

INTENTION: To enhance the strength and the pull of the desire.

The WANTING: The outcome becomes more than a wishful thinking.You'll have a wanting to fulfill the intention.

The CAN. The building of your beliefs and your ability to do what you set out to will allow yourself to realise that you can.

DEALING WITH FAILURE OF THE PAST: We will focus on any negative thoughts and feelings associated with past failed attempts to reduce weight and look at the positive benefits of having failed. This will then be used to create momentum and motivation.

The ALLOWING: A belief in one's capability must be followed by internal permission. You must give yourself permission to change,to undertake the project and the task to succeed,the fear of faliure will be explored as this is so very common with weight control.This step is crucial. By approaching something with doubt you will not allow or give yourself permission to achieve your outcome set goal. What will happen is that you will unknowingly,sabotage your success. We will look at any doubts that you may have.

DECIDE/CHOOSE: When you give yourself permission to succeed then you will make the right choices that promote and support your outcome.

PUT IN MOTION: Making decisions and choices is not sufficient to accomplish a result. To achieve a desired result you'll need to implement your decisions and choices with action

SUSTAIN THE EFFORT: Putting the plan in to motion does not bring success unless one also sustains the effort to sufficiently to reach the outcome.

COMPLETE: To achieve your outcome you will have to put forth sustained action to complete what you wish to achieve.In this case weight reduction. Once the project is accomplished and you have reached your target weight you will now shift to weight maintainence. In this manner the results are preserved.

REMEMBER IF YOU ALWAYS DO WHAT YOU HAVE ALWAYS DONE YOU WILL GET WHAT YOU HAVE ALWAYS GOT. :)

Just a final note on faliure. when you have tried so many different ways to loose weight and so many things have n't worked it's best to understand that if you have tried these things then you have not failed, because you have made the effort. The success is in have made the effort to do something.

When Thomas Edison was interviewed by a young reporter who boldly asked Mr. Edison if he felt like a failure and if he thought he should just give up by now. Perplexed, Edison replied, "Young man, why would I feel like a failure? And why would I ever give up? I now know definitively over 9,000 ways that an electric light bulb will not work. Success is almost in my grasp." And shortly after that, and over 10,000 attempts, Edison invented the light bulb.

6-8 sessions are often needed however each person is individual in their own personal needs.
